July News from Costa de la Luz Sur

Greetings everyone,

We have been going through the mill recently with the new European General Data Protection Regulations; I am sure you have received many emails from companies you had forgotten you had ever contacted. They hadn’t forgotten you and now, to keep all your details, they have to tell you that they do have data about you and give you the right to download it and also give you the right to correct it.

We try not to keep data on people except a record of what information we have given them. However, now we are going through an exercise of deleting all information that is no longer relevant or legal for us to retain. We have through our parent body (Age Concern España) joined forces with all Age Concern branches and together we have hired a consultant to ensure we comply.

To borrow our equipment just ring the Helpline (0034) 634 31 52 89 or write to us [email protected]. We ask for a deposit on any equipment loaned out; there is no charge although donations are always welcome. The “norms” are wheelchairs and crutches but we have a lot of other items including various walking aids, aids for bed-ridden folks and even splints.

Our helpline is usually busy giving out information; whilst we give information free of charge, some of the services we list, like translators or nursing care, does have to paid for by the person requiring that type of help.

For people over 50 who require help or advice, Age Concern Costa de la Luz Sur operates a “Helpline” telephone service from 9am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday (it is not an emergency service – please dial 112 for emergencies). The telephone number is 634 31 52 89. You may also email us at [email protected]
