Age Concern, Estepona and Manilva, Volunteers’ Lunch and Thank You

AC EyM Volunteers 2015On 9th December volunteers working for Age Concern came together for an end of year chat with ample refreshments to enjoy. It was also the occasion to wish one of the stalwart supporters of Age Concern, Audrey Kenyon, a happy 90th birthday which was celebrated with wine, cake and flowers. The President of Age Concern, Eileen Dry, thanked Audrey for the tremendous amount of work she has put into the charity.

Audrey has worked for Age Concern since the charity started in 2003. She initially worked on a stall in the Plaza de Reloj helping to raise the funds needed to keep the charity going. Since then she has worked in the shop (on the till) at least once a week and has been on call to assist when there have been staff shortages. She prides herself on keeping a clean sheet (till roll and money match). Audrey is loved by the staff and the shop customers, long may her work continue.

AC EyM xmas party 2015Volunteers who work in the shop and/or the Drop-In-Centre for Age Concern came together to enjoy a wonderful lunch at the renowned restaurante, El Hatillo, in Estepona on 15th December. The volunteers have had a very busy year and thanks to their efforts many older people have been helped and much advice given.

The charity requires a significant sum of money to keep operating from year to year and a significant amount of that comes from sales made in the shop. So thanks to all of the sales staff and their colleagues who work in the community with older people.
